Vom Zephirberge Kennel
Welcome: First of all, let me welcome you to the Vom Zephirberge Doberman Pinscher web site. I hope your visit here will provide you with whatever information you are seeking about the Doberman Pinscher breed, their history and breeding practices. As of 6/9/2010, we now have a Facebook page. Please feel free to join us there. Previous Litters: To those of you who have already purchased a puppy from me, I thank you. I know that you will cherish, enjoy and love them as much as I did while they were in my care and still do. Their pictures are now posted with the previous litters and may be viewed by clicking on "Previous" button at the left of this page. As they grow up, at your convenience, I would appreciate receiving a current photo of them every now and then. Photos or updated information received will be place in their section on the previous litter pages as appropriate. Planned Litters: I normally announce and update the status of any planned litters right here whenever that information becomes available. We currently are proud to announce the latest new litter #6, brought to you by Brigit and Apollo, which was whelped on the 21st of July 2010. As per FL law, these puppies cannot go to their new homes any earlier than 8 weeks later on the 15th of September 2010. All the puppies should be 100% "clear" of Von Willebrand Disease (vWD) and they are AKC registered with litter names starting with the letter "D". Anyone interested in making arrangements to purchase a puppy must first answer a few questions on a self explanatory pre purchase questionnaire. Puppies: Our puppies are primarily bred to become a "family dog and your best friend." Our most recent ancestry, however, also includes a superior champion lineage of European "working dogs." All Dobermans technically belong to the classification of "working dogs". Our pups can also fill the functions required of a working dog, such as police K-9 or drug detector, if so required. You will find all of our puppies are highly intelligent, easily trained and motivated to please you. They will easily blend in with and become a beloved member of your family and inner circle. In addition, they will be ever alert for unknown outsiders and offer outstanding protection against any unwanted intruders or threats. All puppies are guaranteed to be healthy and within AKC Standards for the Doberman breed. Puppies will be delivered with their tails docked, dewclaws removed, current shots, worming to the correct age and with copies of their shot record, litter pedigree, purchase contract and registration with the AKC. The ears will not yet have been cropped. Ear cropping is a personal choice, and is most successful when done between the ages of 8-12 weeks and/or when the puppy is over 10 pounds in weight. With regards to pedigrees and genetic diseases, whether a breeder inbreeds, linebreeds, or outcrosses may have an effect on the incidence of genetic disease in the offspring. Technically speaking, inbreeding is the mating of two individuals that are related through one or more common ancestors. The closest form of inbreeding involves parent-child or both same parents brother-sister matings. Linebreeding, while actually a form of inbreeding, usually involves mating slightly more distantly related dogs. The rate of polygenic and recessively inherited diseases tends to increase with inbreeding, because the chance that the two animals carry the same mutation is greater when the dogs are related. However, it should also be noted that inbreeding or linebreeding is the surest path to developing a bloodline with superior traits that faithfully reproduces itself. Outcrossing is the mating of two dogs of the same breed that are otherwise virtually unrelated. Linebreeding and inbreeding are both practices accepted by the AKC for registration and helps better preserve certain highly desirable qualities found in a particular line. Linebreeding may be practiced by this kennel in future litters while inbreeding of parent-child will not be practiced. It should be noted, however, that inbreeding is practiced by some reputable kennels. This is done with very "high end" champion lines where the exact lineage can be used to determine that there is little or no chance of producing an offspring with genetic defects. This practice is much like that used in breeding champion race horses. Price: The cost of a puppy from the next is $950. The purchase price does not include ear cropping which is done at about the age of 9 weeks. Sometimes Breeders are asked about the price by buyers who are concerned that they are being asked to pay too much. If this is a concern to you, perhaps you might want to consider what is involved in becoming a breeder. If it is done for the right reasons, I would actually encourage somebody considering becoming a Doberman breeder. Purchase: If you are interested in making arrangements to purchase a puppy, you must first complete a self explanatory pre purchase questionnaire. If accepted by the seller, a minimum non-refundable deposit of $150 will be required to reserve a puppy. There will be a Deposit Receipt and Sales Purchase Agreement prepared for each sale based on the individual circumstances involved. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact me directly via email at zhills@verizon.net. Location: The puppies are located in Zephyrhills, Florida where they may be seen by appointment only. I will make a buyer appointment to view a puppy only for buyers who have satisfactorily completed a pre purchase questionnaire. Actual photos and descriptions of each puppy in the litter, along with their availability status, may be viewed by clicking on "The Current Litter" . Delivery: Transportation of the puppies to their new home will be the sole responsibility of the purchaser. However, I will try to fulfill all reasonable requests to assist a buyer's individual needs. If you are thinking about shipping a puppy, the Dog Story.net site is a good place to get some valuable shipping information. I will, if requested, arrange for delivery of a puppy, as directed by a buyer, to any designated air carrier shipping location at the Tampa International Airport for a prepaid delivery fee of $35.
